Dhela zone is open throughout the year but sometimes it can be closed because of weather conditions. This Jim Corbett Dhela zone has scenic views with dense trees like Sal, Haldu, Bahera, Rohini, and Kusum along with large grasslands and various water bodies. You can spot animals like tigers, leopards, Asiatic elephants, sloth bears, and king Cobras.

This zone was opened for safaris back in 2014. This zone is a haven for bird watchers as you can spot a large number of birds in this zone. This zone is in the southern part of the Jungle and you can stay here for the night at Dhela Forest Rest House. Now you must be thinking about the timings of safari in this zone, so let me tell you this zone is open throughout the year. You can visit this zone at any time and go on a Dhela gypsy safari ride.

Night Stay In Dhela Zone

You can stay here in the nighttime and experience the thrill of the jungle at the Dhela Forest Rest House. You have to get a permit to stay here. There are in total 4 rooms in the lodge and one person can only book 2 rooms. You cannot stay here for more than 3 nights, which means you can make a Dhela Night Stay Booking for 3 nights maximum.

Room facilities

There is a double bed in each room and they have an attached bathroom. The rooms are big and the bathrooms are clean so you don’t have to worry about hygiene. If you’re someone who wants to experience the true thrill of the jungle, then only you should visit here because there are not many facilities available here. If you want a nice and luxurious place with all modern amenities then this is not a place for you.

You can have delicious buffet meals in the restaurant and you can also go to the Canteen. You can also enjoy a wildlife movie show in the evening and spend your time reading books in the library area. There is also a watch tower which is located at a distance of 10 min walk from Dhikala Lodge. You can see great views of the Ramganga River and Dhikala Chaur from the tower when you go for a Dhikala gypsy safari.

This Dhela Forest Rest house is made inside the jungle to give wildlife and nature enthusiasts a true feel of the jungle. There are solar panels here for electricity, so don’t expect much. Do keep an extra power bank and batteries to recharge the phones and cameras. Besides rooms, there is a large space where you can relax quietly and roam freely.


Food at Dhela

You can have some delicious meals at the Jim Corbett Dhela forest rest house. There is a professional cook here, who makes tasty food. It’s just that you have to bring your raw food with you so that he can make it. The Jim Corbett Dhela Forest Rest house is located inside the park and because of safety reasons they cannot store the food here, so don’t forget to bring your raw food with cooking oil and spices, if you are coming to Dhela Forest Rest House. Just take care of one thing, bring only vegetarian items and don't bring any alcohol as nonveg and alcohol are not allowed inside the forest.

Dhela zone is open throughout the year for gypsy safari rides but you can only stay here from the 15th Nov to the 14th June. You can experience Dhela gypsy safari and spot animals here at any time of the year but you cannot stay here at any time. You can make a Dhela Night Stay Booking from Nov 15 to June 14. On other days night stay is not allowed for tourists.

First you have to come to Ramnagar, which is the nearest town to Jim Corbett. After coming there, you have to reach the Dhela Gate of Jim Corbett which is 15 km away. We can also pick you up from the nearest railway station or airport. After coming to Dhela Gate, you have to show the permit of your booked safari, you cannot enter the park without the safari and the guide. The safari will take you inside the jungle and drop you at Jim Corbett Dhela Forest Rest House. You don’t have to book an extra safari, this safari will be the one that you have already booked for your ride at Dhela Zone.

The Forest Rest house is covered with electric fencing, animals can not enter even at night. The forest department has taken adequate measures and the whole area is covered with CCTV so you can stay here without worrying.
